Q. What happens during a session? Each session is one hour long. We begin with a warm up and dynamic moves, a chance for the muscles to ease gently into the main session and for the heart rate to elevate. We use bodyweight, more often than not in a circuit format and different items of kit including kettle bells, medicine balls, free weights, skipping ropes, pads and gloves to name just a few. We are a "military grade" bootcamp so expect to use unusual items of kit such as tyres, logs, jerrycans, even a stretcher for simulated casualty drills! This is what makes us different to other bootcamps, makes us unique. We in Incorporate military exercises and circuits that will get you working hard and believe it or not, having fun with a team of like-minded people.
Q. Do you weigh us, carry out tests? We can and have done tests such as blood pressure, body fat percentage, physical tests etc on our Bootcamp Days that we hold at our HQ location at Chislehurst. These are generally carried out every 3 months so keep an eye open on our social media sites for the next event coming soon.
Q. Do you still train in bad weather? To date, we have only cancelled one session due to bad weather. We have a saying in the military - "there is no such thing as bad weather,
just poor clothes choices"! We train throughout the year come rain, sleet, snow and shine, we adapt and overcome our environment. Q. I'm not sure how to prepare for my first session?Don't worry, we appreciate your first time can be a bit daunting, especially for those new to exercise. To that end, please feel free to download our Joining Instructions that will hopefully answer all your questions and get in contact if there is something we've missed.
Q. How do I join? Please use the contact details page to get in touch for all locations, an email or phone call is fine. Your enquiry will be answered as soon as possible, it's then down to you to attend your first session. Please download the PARQ (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire) to save time on your first visit. This will provide your instructor with details of any injuries or ailments you may have and how best to guide and train you.
Q. What is a "military grade"bootcamp? At bootcamp.uk.com our instructors are mainly ex-military having served with various cap badges within the British services. That means you can be rest assured your instructor is highly qualified and will train you to the highest standards. Instructors that work for us with a civilian background will have gone through a strict training programme and assessed by Chief Instructor Matt Lyons before being allowed to represent the bootcamp.uk.com brand. We want the best...you deserve the best!
Q. Does this mean we scream and shout at you?Absolutely not! Other bootcamps and the media are under the impression that, that is how we operate as a military bootcamp . We want our members to feel comfortable and relaxed, to have fun. We understand that the first visit can be quite daunting, especially for those guys new to exercise. We have members that have been with us from the start because they love our style of training and the fun but challenging environment we have created.
Q. How much is Bootcamp? We have a acronym in the military- K.I.S.S! Keep It Simple Stupid. We try to be as flexible as possible. For those that want to attend on an ad-hoc basis the pay as you go option is probably best for them. We have members that already have an existing training programme or just lead hectic lives and can't commit to a block. Pay as you go is up to £10 depending on location.
For those wishing to attend on a regular basis, say 2-3 times per week, the block booking option is more for them. The block costs £70 for 10 sessions to be used within 2 months, again dependent on location. We understand that life, holidays and injuries etc can get in the way so it is up to the locations instructor to allow a degree of flexibility in wavering the 2 month period. Q. Are discounts available? We offer Summer and Winter block booking offers for £50 for 10 sessions twice a year. Serving military, upon showing identification, can purchase a pay as you go session for £8 and a block of 10 for £50. Again this is dependent on location and your instructor can advise.
Q. I'm worried about whether I can keep up?We will adapt the exercises to suit your ability and all we ask is that you give 100%! Yes,we will push you...it will be hard but it will be what your comfortable with so please don't be concerned. Our instructors will ask questions about your exercise history, any injuries or ailments that you may have on your first session and adapt the exercises to suit. Don't be concerned about everyone else, you won't be holding the other members back...don't forget, they have been there themselves and will encourage you as part of the team.
