4 Items Every Bootcamper Should Own

If you’re going to a bootcamp, there’s a select few things that you will need. For both safety and to get the most out of your workouts. Here are 4 things you should think about.
Water bottle
A water bottle is not sexy or exciting, but it is essential! Dehydration completely saps your strength and endurance. It is really important that you keep on top of it and sip water throughout your workout.

Most important through the summer months when the weather is warm, but even in winter you should still be drinking plenty of water. Just because it doesn’t feel like you are sweating a lot doesn’t mean you’re not losing water and important salts and minerals.

We suggest a water bottle with a built in filter to clean the water and pull any nasty chemicals out of tap water. This ends up saving a lot of money when compared to buying bottled water every time.

There are loads of different filtered water bottles on the market today and you should be able to pick one up on Amazon for under £20.

Thermal

What could be less sexy than water bottles? You got it, thermal clothing! I’m guessing you don’t want to lose all of your hard graft over the winter though. If you intend to keep training, you’re going to need to keep warm!

You could layer up with lots of clothes, but it just makes you heavy and restricts movement. Thin, thermal clothing is a much better option to keep you warm in the winter months, without hindering your ability to actually work out.

Yes, you are going to keep yourself warm and sweat when you get into your workout, but it’s still not advisable to be out in the cold with just shorts and a vest on. Invest in some good thermal workout gear and you will be nice and toasty while out and about in the cold.

Good trainers

I can’t understate the importance of good, well fitted trainers for your workouts. Buying workout shoes is not as simple as picking the design that catches your eye and off you go. It’s really important that the shoes you wear are right for your
function, as well as your fashion.

Some people will over-pronate, some under-pronate and some are neutral. This is the technical terms for how flat or arched your feet are. When you consider the impact that your feet take during exercise, it is very important to make sure you have shoes that are designed to fit
your feet. Otherwise, the chances of hurting your knees and/or back increase exponentially.

To find the proper fitting shoes, you can go to a running shop or sports clothing shop and get a gait analysis. This is where a professional will assess the function of your feet and then be able to recommend the right footwear for you.

Recovery drink

After your workout, you need to start the recovery process. To replace lost salts and minerals, and take in protein to begin the re-building of your body. Even if your goal is weightloss, you must take in energy after working out to recover and come back stronger.

We suggest a mixture of protein and minerals for recovery and hydration. You’ll be able to pick up some protein, re-hydration salts and a shaker from a health food shop or chemist.

I started bootcamp two years ago thinking I wouldn't stick with it but two years on and I am so addicted. I find myself scheduling things around it which is crazy!! Everyone is friendly, encouraging, there's some great banter and it's something different everyday. Love, love love bootcamp.

Well what can I say about Matt's bootcamp sessions in Chislehurst?! Fun & varied definitely spring to mind! Every session I have been too has been different and never have we done the same workout twice! Our BT camp boss, Matt, definitely gives us all a good run around and with his tongue and cheek approach makes it really good fun too!

Well it must be as I've just signed up for 20 more sessions!
